20-Second Review: Sound of Freedom Sound of Freedom is one of the more discussed movies of the Summer, and rightfully so. I wasn't sure what to expect when I entered the theater but left having watched a film that would stick with me for a while afterward. The film stars Jim Caviezel, Mira Sorvino, and Bill Camp. The movie is based on a true story. It follows Tim Ballard, a former government agent turned vigilante who embarks on a mission to rescue children from sex traffickers in Colombia. After saving a young boy from ruthless child traffickers, Tim learns that the boy's sister is still captive and decides to embark on a dangerous mission to save her. With time running out, he quits his job and journeys deep into the Colombian jungle, putting his life on the line to free her from a fate worse than death. There have been some hit pieces circulating from major publications about this film, and I can't figure out what the purpose of this is. From a human perspective, this is an important message that most people have no idea is happening. From a film perspective, this is a terrific thriller that is well-made, well-acted, well-paced, and impactful. It has excellent cinematography and a touching score. The film's children's actors are outstanding, which may have upgraded this film from good to great for me. The subject matter is tough to watch, especially if you're a parent. I may never see this film again, but I am glad I did.
