INFO:
Ed Sheeran was selected to write and perform “I See Fire” for the 2013 film The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug after director Peter Jackson’s daughter, Katie Jackson, introduced Sheeran’s music to her father. Impressed by Sheeran’s style and lyrical storytelling, Peter Jackson invited him to collaborate on the end-credits song for the film. Sheeran, a lifelong fan of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit series, eagerly accepted the opportunity. He wrote and recorded the song in just one day, working closely with the film’s production team in New Zealand to ensure it captured the emotional depth and atmosphere of the story. The track’s haunting melody and lyrics perfectly complemented the film’s themes, earning critical acclaim and further solidifying Sheeran’s reputation as a talented singer-songwriter.
